Burnet boys have big second half in win against Brownwood
LAMPASAS — Court vision on the press breaker allowed the Burnet High School boys basketball team to earn a 50-38 win against Brownwood on Feb. 8.

The Bulldogs led 21-18 at the half but pulled away when they began hitting open players under the basket. By the end of the third, they led 33-22 and never looked back.
“(We) did a good job cause Brownwood started doing some things to us that we may see in the playoffs,” Bulldogs head coach Roy Kiser said. “They trapped us hard in the second half.”
Junior post Clayton Baumgart returned to the lineup and led the Bulldogs in scoring and rebounding.
“Clayton coming back was right at 50 percent,” Kiser said. “So he’s taking a step back to where he’s been. And that changes us when he’s back in the lineup.”
Senior guard Jai Patel helped Burnet earn an 18-5 lead in first quarter. He scored nine of his 12 points in the opening period.
“He shot the ball fantastic,” the coach said. “It was good to see.”
