Marble Falls girls ends season with loss to No. 3 Vista Ridge
CEDAR PARK — The Marble Falls High School girls basketball team slowed the pace at the start of its final District 25-4A game Feb. 5 against state-ranked Cedar Park Vista Ridge.
That only worked for a quarter against the No. 3 team in the Class 4A poll of the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches. The Lady Rangers outscored the Lady Mustangs 24-10 in the second period en route to a 68-40 win over Marble Falls.
With the season over for the Lady Mustangs, head coach Chris Jost reflected on his first year leading Marble Falls.
” … A big key for us this year in district was the depth issue,” he said. “When we have our best five or six on the floor offensively and defensively, we played with most everybody. But we played at a fast pace, and it was just hard to sustain that with the starters not on the floor.”
He admired his team’s effort and believes better days are coming.
“They played so hard, and they’re coachable,” he said. “And that combination makes them a fun group to coach. And with a lot of them coming back next year, I’m excited about next year.”
