Burnet County Republican Women offering $1,000 scholarship in essay contest

GRANITE SHOALS — The Burnet County Republican Women are awarding a $1,000 scholarship in an essay contest for Burnet County seniors bound for colleges or vocational schools.

The 500-word essay question is “What can the Republican Party do to more clearly represent the views of the majority of the people without compromising its basic platform?”

The contest is open to all seniors in Burnet County, including home-schooled students, who are U.S. citizens and will be attending a college or a vocational school.

Applications are available at local schools or may be requested from the Burnet County Republican Women. The deadline for submission is March 18.

The scholarship will be sent directly to the college or the vocational school once the winning student has enrolled and provided his or her student-identification information.
