FROM STAFF REPORTS

MARBLE FALLS — A contractor with Federal Express is recovering from non-life-threatening injuries after the truck he was in rolled over just inside the city limits on FM 2147 West, according to a police report.

The rollover happened Jan. 28 just before 4:30 p.m. in the 900 block of the roadway, adjacent to the bank of Lake Marble Falls.

“He was traveling eastbound coming into the city. Witnesses report that he was pulling over to the rest area,” said Officer Justin Boucher of Marble Falls Police Department. “He just kept on going until he went over the edge.”

Emergency crews trudged down a steep and wooded embankment to pull the driver from the wreckage. Matthew Mullens, 39, of Hutto, was airlifted to University Medical Center Brackenridge in Austin. The FedEx truck is registered to a company in Luling.

“(The driver) is still unsure of what happened,” the officer reported. “I’m not sure of the exact cause that led the vehicle to leave the roadway.”

No citations were issued.
