Faith girls score 30 in first quarter in win against Waco Vanguard

MARBLE FALLS — A 30-point first quarter propelled the Faith Academy of Marble Falls girls basketball team to a 67-14 victory against Waco Vanguard on Jan 18.

The Lady Flames only allowed one bucket, a layup, with 5 minutes remaining in the opening period. Meanwhile, their points came off six layups, three 3-pointers, a 3-point play and offensive rebounds.

That trend continued in the second quarter, leading to a 48-5 advantage for the Lady Flames.

Faith head coach Jerry English played his starters for only two minutes in the second half.

“I thought we broke the ball great,” he said. “We did a really good job of rebounding the ball and a really good job of running.”

The victory is the Lady Flames’ 72nd in a winning streak that dates to the 2006-07 season.
