Alfred Edwin Wood, 80, of Marble Falls, Texas, passed away Dec. 24, 2012, in Cedar Park, Texas, after a brief illness.

Alfred “Bert” was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. His family and friends will miss him greatly.

He retired from Cold Springs Granite after 39 years of employment. Bert also served with the armed forces during the Korean War. He enjoyed music, playing the guitar, singing, crossword puzzles, games, softball and being with his family.

Born on July 15, 1932, in Leander, Texas, Bert was the son of Ralph Grayson and Eva (Turner) Wood. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Wayne Wood, stepdaughter Peggy Taliaferro, son-in-law Thomas David and brothers Winfred Wood and Ralph Grayson Wood Jr.

Bert is survived by his children Kara David of Round Rock and Jeanene Jones and husband Mike of Georgetown; stepchildren Ron Mayfield and wife Paula of Austin; Ken Mayfield and wife Margaret of Houston and Debby Phillips and husband James of Granite Shoals. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and his beloved guardian earth angel, Naomi Chadwick of Liberty Hill.

Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Dec. 28 at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home, 1805 U.S. 281 North in Marble Falls, (830) 693-4373. A funeral service is 2 p.m. Dec. 29 at the funeral home with Brother Max Copeland officiating. Interment will follow at Marble Falls City Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be nephews Mike Clark and Clinton Gaston and grandsons Keith Mayfield, Josh Phillips, Kevin Mayfield and Nick Mayfield.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Cedar Park Regional hospital in Cedar Park for the loving care they provided.
