James Leslie Evans II passed away on Dec. 13, 2012, at home. He was born on Nov. 5, 1951, in Oakland, Calif., and grew up in Chula Vista, Calif., a suburb of San Diego.
He was predeceased by his parents, James and Margaret; and a brother, Richard.
He is survived by brother Gary of San Diego; wife Barbara; and son James L Evans III of Burnet and San Marcos.
Jim graduated from Hilltop High School and Southwestern Junior College, both in Chula Vista; then from Fresno State University, with a Bachelor of Science in agricultural mechanization. This was followed with a Master of Science, summa cum laude, in agriculture with a specialization in irrigation and mechanized agriculture from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, Calif., in 1983. Most of his career was spent overseas in the Middle East and Central America, working with farmers. He retired and settled in Burnet in September 2000. He served as president of both the Council Creek South POA and the East Lake Buchanan HOA. Jim was a remarkable person in many ways and was dearly loved by family and friends around the world. A celebration of his life is 1 p.m. Feb. 3, 2013, at the East Lake Buchanan Community Center in Silver Creek.
