Take time out for the movies at Showbiz Cinema 8 in Marble Falls
“The Hobbit” took over Showbiz Cinema 8 for the weekend, with showings in 2D and D-Box. It is the first of a string of blockbusters scheduled for this holiday season.
Located at 2600 U.S. 281 North in Marble Falls, Showbiz Cinema 8 is an eight-screen movie theater with stadium seating, thundering digital sound, 3-D and 4-D systems and a full-service snack bar offering homemade pizzas, gourmet coffees and ice cream.
Rated PG13, “The Hobbit” can be seen in 2D, 3D or D-Box (4D), the latest in theater viewing that puts you — and your seat — right in the middle of the action.
Other holiday happenings at Showbiz Cinema 8 include:
• Dec. 19 — The Disney classic “Monsters, Inc.” will be released in 3D for the first time! Rated G.
• Dec. 19 — Seth Rogen and Barbra Streisand star in “The Guilt Trip,” a mother/son cross-country road trip rated PG13.
• Dec. 21 — Tom Cruise takes on the role of “Jack Reacher” in the PG13 movie based on author Lee Child’s most popular crime-solving character.
• Christmas Day — The much anticipated screen version of the Broadway smash, “Les Miserables” (PG13) opens, starring Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe and Anne Hathaway.
While watching one of these or the other shows opening over the holidays, you also can earn points toward free tickets or snacks, said Audrey Martin, director of marketing and community development for Showbiz Cinema.
The free Star Rewards program gives customers points for snack bar and ticket purchases that can add up to Stars worth $5 each.
“You can swing by the theater to pick up a card or register for it online,” Martin said. “We even reward our guests with one point for activating their card online.”
