Gary Dean Willard
<p>Gary Dean Willard, 62, passed away Dec. 11, 2012, at his home in Buchanan Dam. Gary was born on March 18, 1950, in Cape Girardeau, Mo., to Charles W. “Red” and Helen M. (McCormick) Willard.</p>
<p>He spent his childhood growing up in many places because of his father’s work in the construction business.</p>
<p>He served in the 101st Airborne Division in Vietnam from 1967 to 1970 and during an additional tour in Germany from 1972 to 1975. In addition to various other medals and decorations, Gary was a recipient of the Purple Heart, the Bronze Star, the Air Medal and the Army Commendation Medal.</p>
<p>He was a resident of Catalina, Ariz., before moving to Buchanan Dam in 1984. He worked at the Inks Lake National Fish Hatchery in the maintenance department and retired this past March after 20 years of employment.</p>
<p>He enjoyed fishing, camping and being with his grandchildren.</p>
<p>Gary is survived by his wife, Kelly; sons Kevin Willard and wife Theresa and Jon Willard and wife Stacie; daughters Shana Inman Willard, Katie Willard and Malissa Willard; brothers Danny Willard and wife Karol and David Willard and wife Annette; sister Donna Willard Clough and husband Randy; grandchildren Kristun Willard, Blake Willard, Kaitlyn Willard, Zachary Willard, Casey Willard, Rylie Inman and Sophia Passmore; and great-grandchild Jaydun Estrada.</p>
<p>Gary was preceded in death by his parents.</p>
<p>Visitation is 5-7 p.m. Dec. 14 at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home, 306 Texas 29 East in Burnet, (512) 756-2222. A graveside service is 1 p.m. Dec. 15 at Lakeland Hills Memorial Park with the Rev. John Taylor officiating. Military honors will follow.</p>
