MARBLE FALLS — The Mustangs suffered their third loss of the season, though coaches were happy with how hard they tried Oct. 8.

“Despite the loss, the boys gave great effort and continue to improve each week,” coach Joel Herring said.

MARBLE FALLS — The game came down to the last drive of the evening Oct. 5, coach Joel Herring said.

“Despite outstanding play by the Mustang defense, the Cougars were able to score a late touchdown to seal the victory,” he said.

FREDERICKSBURG — The Bulldogs avoided disaster early Oct. 4. After Burnet fumbled the opening kickoff, the defense tackled the Billies for losses on the first and second downs then stuffed the quarterback on fourth down to force a turnover on downs.

TOP PLAYERS: Steven Gallardo had a 91-yard touchdown run; Kyle Cavender recorded a safety; James McNew blocked a punt that Alex Gonzalez recovered for a touchdown; Coleman Posey scored on a 1-yard run.

ON OFFENSE: Cash Ringstaff, Alex Gonzalez, Jacob Scott, Clint Ringstaff and kicker Carlos Herrera (extra point)

FREDERICKSBURG — The Billies struck first Oct. 4 thanks to a reverse that hit pay dirt then added to it by completing a 2-point pass.

Burnet responded but failed to complete its 2-point pass. Burnet recovered the onside kick, but the Bulldogs turned the ball over on downs.

TOP PLAYERS: Nathanel Looney scored on a 5-yard run; Ryan Robertson completed the onside kick.

LLANO — The duo of Dylan Green and Shawn Kiser provided all the touchdown runs the Daubers needed Oct. 4 to help Llano remain unbeaten.

LLANO — The Texans took a 6-0 halftime lead and added to it in the third quarter thanks to a short Dauber snap on a punt Oct. 4. The result was a 12-0 lead by the start of the fourth. Wimberley scored two more touchdowns courtesy of Llano turnovers.
