Joe Bob Sherrod, 74, of Llano died Sept. 27, 2012. He was born on Sept. 28, 1937, in Brown County to Oren and Mabel V. (Wilson) Sherrod.
He married Jerrie Means on Jan. 11, 1958, in Brown County.
He served in the National Guard from 1956 to 1964 and later worked for a telephone company for 20 years.
He was a gunsmith by trade, repairing and making custom guns. He was a great hunter and loved the outdoors.
He was a longtime member of the Llano County Clay Busters and participated in cowboy shoots, at which he made many friends.
He also was a member of Lutie Watkins Memorial United Methodist Church.
In addition to his wife, survivors include son Joe David Sherrod of Spicewood; daughter Cathy Klafehn and husband Mark of Flower Mound; grandchildren Josh Sherrod, Meagan Klafehn, Jordan Sherrod and Emma Klafehn; uncle Ross Wilson of Stephenville; cousin Sherrod Shaffer and wife Janice of El Dorado, Kan.; brother-in-law Bill Means and wife Cynthia of Brookesmith; and sister-in-law Mary Edgar and husband Duke of Early.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
Visitation is 4-6 p.m. Sept. 28 at Waldrope-Hatfield-Hawthorne Funeral Home, 307 E. Sandstone in Llano, (325) 247-4300. A graveside service is 11 a.m. Sept. 29 at Jordan Springs Cemetery in Brown County with Sherrod Shaffer officiating.
