KERRVILLE — After rain cancelled the season opener against Burnet, the Mustangs looked to earn their first win of the season against Peterson Middle School on Sept. 18.

QUOTABLE: “Although the Mustangs came up short on the scoreboard, they played with a lot of heart and intensity and gave great effort throughout the game,” coach Joel Herring said.

KERRVILLE — Though the scoreboard did not indicate it, coaches said they were pleased with the Mustangs’ efforts in their season opener Sept. 18.

Marble Falls 8th C 6, Peterson Middle School 6
KERRVILLE — Billy Herrera scored the only Mustang touchdown Sept. 18 to help Marble Falls tie Peterson Middle School.
ON OFFENSE: Quarterbacks Kameron Ellensberg and Freddy Garcia and lineman Robert Beltran
ON DEFENSE: Matthew Cunningham had an interception, and Mark Segovia recovered a fumble.

Marble Falls 8th B 0, Peterson Middle School 0
KERRVILLE — Coaches were pleased with see the Mustangs consistently move the ball from one 30-yard line to the other during their Sept. 18 game against Peterson Middle School. Now they want to see them finish drives with some scores.
Quarterback Heath Dooley “did a great job of working the offense,” coach David Norwood said. Dooley had three good runs on the zone read and completed two short passes.

ON DEFENSE: David Gutierrez made several tackles, Chris Guerra recovered a fumble and Zach Stephenson had a pass breakup on a crucial third down.

Peterson Middle School 29, Marble Falls 8th A 20
KERRVILLE — Peterson was able to remain undefeated but had to work to do it against the Mustangs on Sept. 18. Peterson used three big plays and recovered two fumbles to keep the Mustangs from winning.
