Nelda C. “Chloedell” Belvin, 81, of Pasadena died Sept. 16, 2012, surrounded by her family. She was born on Aug. 30, 1931, in Burnet County to Hubert and Mrytle Baker.
Even with the many children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren she loved and nurtured, she always found time to make each individual feel special through all the good and tough times.
After losing her husband, she moved into a retirement community, where she joined the board and was elected president. Being president wasn’t enough for her — she also became activity director.
After an accident that required surgery and extended recovery, she was forced to resign from her position as president and concentrate on her recovery. She then spent her final years with family being loved and cared for by her children as she had done for them.
She will be truly missed, not only by her family, but also by everyone who knew and loved her. She never met a stranger, and anyone who met her felt like a friend of someone truly special.
Survivors include sons Gary and wife Brenda, David and wife Christy and Dennis and wife Kimberly; daughters Yvonne, Linda and husband Robert, Nelda and husband Frank and Cynthia and husband Randy; sister Melva; 24 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by husband Jimmy Belvin; her parents; sisters Ima Jewel and Clemma; and brothers Vernon, Melvin, Glenn, Herman and Maurice.
Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Sept. 18 at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home, 306 Texas 29 East in Burnet, (512) 756-2222. A funeral service is 11 a.m. Sept. 19 at the funeral home with burial following at Mahomet Cemetery.
