Marble Falls Pintos youth baseball team ends season with good finish at tourney

BURLESON — A controversial call at the state tournament that ended the Marble Falls Pintos baseball team’s season left assistant coach Donnie Zavala with one conclusion: “That’s baseball.”

On July 20, the 8-and-under team was leading 16-12 in the bottom of the final inning against the IWS Bad Company, a team that had defeated Marble Falls 22-8 a day earlier. With one out, a ball was hit to the shortstop, who threw it to the second baseman. Touching the bag, the infielder pulled the ball out of his glove and threw to first base.
