Highland Lakes 12-and-under softball team holding tryouts

MARBLE FALLS — The Cen-Tex Crew, a 12-and-under select softball team, will conduct tryouts Aug. 18 and 21 at a yet-to-be-determined site.
Head coach Lance Wenmohs started the team in February, which finished its spring season in June.

“The girls showed a great deal of improvement,” he said. “We really improved quite a bit. That was refreshing to see the girls respond and work to improve.”
Now he’s looking for athletes who want to play fall softball from September to November, except on holidays.
The team consists of players from Marble Falls, Burnet, Llano, Johnson City and other Highland Lakes communities, Wenmohs said.
“You have to try out and be one of the better players,” he said. “We want to create an alternative softball recreational opportunity available to them.”
In all, he hopes to have a team of 12 players with all positions open for tryouts.
The Crew will play in tournaments twice a month and have traveled to Waco and the Austin area to play, the coach said.
