New Llano baseball coach has experience, 400 wins, AD says
LLANO — San Antonio East Central High School head baseball coach Mike Ridings was approved for hire as the head baseball coach at Llano High School on June 18.
The Llano Independent School District board of trustees made the decision during its regular meeting.
Ridings, 57, also will be a science teacher.
“He’s coached a long time,” Llano athletic director Craig Slaughter said. “He’s very experienced. He’s won over 400 games – that’s a lot of baseball.”
Ridings met with the Yellowjackets on June 19.
“We liked his personality, we liked his demeanor,” Slaughter said. “I think he’ll be on the calmer side. It’ll definitely level us out.”
The new coach also will be an assistant football coach on the offensive side, the athletic director said.
Llano still has to hire a varsity boys coach and a junior high girls coach, he said.
