Honoring a tradition that starts with a Marble Falls cottonwood

Members of Grace Sanctuary felled a cottonwood tree June 12 near Avenue L and Ninth Street as part of the 2012 Lone Star Sun Dance ceremony. The group, which incorporates Native American traditions, includes prayer and dances as part of the annual ceremony. June 12 is Tree Day. The tree will be taken to Grace Sanctuary’s ceremonial land in Lampasas for the rest of the observance, which lasts through June 16. For more, visit www.gracesanctuary.com.
