BURNET — The Burnet Bulldogs 7-on-7 teams went 5-1 against squads from Marble Falls, Llano and Georgetown Eastview at the Burnet High School practice fields May 24.

Eastview’s squads consisted of underclassmen.

The Mustangs’ only loss was to the Bulldogs, 20-14. Marble Falls beat Llano 35-14 and Eastview.

The Bulldogs had little trouble against Llano and Eastview.

The quarterbacks on each team found multiple receivers.

The Mustangs’ Aidin Parnell, Ishiah Carson, Carson Bowen and Austin Bird caught multiple passes in short, mid- and long routes throughout the contests from quarterback Mike Richardson.

Defensive players Cody Schulz, Cody Hunt, Brian Shrubar and Brennan Parker helped make key stops on the other side of the ball.

Bulldogs quarterback Derek Kiser looked comfortable in his designed rollouts throughout the evening. He was able to hit several receivers, including Travis Massingill, Cory Cavender and Austin Huff, in traffic, in the open field and down the middle for scores. Cameron Langley moved from an offensive lineman to tight end.

“It definitely has helped, especially the relationship with the guys and receivers and getting to know each other better,” Kiser said.

The Yellowjackets used two different quarterbacks, Rhett Brooks and Layton Rabb, who found several receivers for scores including Deven Mayne, Isaac Hutto, Will Siegenthaler and Carter Tatsch.

The Mustangs have agreed to a four-week series with Llano beginning June 5 in Marble Falls with time and site to be determined.

The Bulldogs will travel to Georgetown for a 7-on-7 league that starts June 4.
