Myrtle Grant Little Herring, 86, died May 10, 2012, at the Christopher House in Austin. She was born in the Blue Community of Lee County on April 23, 1926.

She worked for Austin Baptists from 1951-1990. She worked for the Austin Baptist Association for a few years, but spent the most of her time as secretary to the Highland Lakes Baptist Encampment.

In 1967, she and her husband, Art, moved from Austin to the encampment, where she continued as secretary. They retired from that ministry in 1990. In retirement, she continued to serve people as a volunteer for the Therapy Pet Pals and the Breckenridge Hospital Sewing Room. Later, with her second husband, Bill Herring, she volunteered for the Texas Baptist Men Disaster Relief.

Survivors include daughters Coralea Roquemore and husband Jimmy and Arthleen Spalding and husband Bob, all of Spicewood; grandchildren John Roquemore and wife Candy, Eleane Conwell and husband David, Rachel Schmidt and husband Chris and Ian Spalding and wife Sandra; great-grandchildren Adam and Josh Roquemore, Todd, Chad, Catie, Sarah, David and newborn baby boy Conwell and Morgan and Kate Schmidt; and husband Bill Herring of Round Rock and his family.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Art Little; parents; brothers; and sisters.

A visitation was May 14 at Cook-Walden Funeral Home in Austin. A service was May 15 at Northwest Baptist Church in Austin with internment at Cook-Walden Capital Parks Cemetery in Pflugerville.
