Lola Nell Clendennen

Lola Nell Clendennen, 74, of Burnet died May 1, 2012, surrounded by family. She was born in Priest River, Idaho, on Nov. 7, 1937, to Truman and Zella Icard Fickle.

She was a Baptist and a real fisherman. She loved her Yorkies and knitting, but her greatest love was her family, especially her grandchildren.

She worked for the Northwood Nursing Home for many years as a food service supervisor and for a short time as a convenience store clerk.

Many who did not personally know her, knew her “Almost Famous” smoke’t jalapeno peppers served at Pardners Night Club in Buchanan Dam.

Survivors include her husband of 40 years, Toney Clendennen, of Burnet; daughters Sherry Wheatley and Debbie Ward, both of Burnet; stepdaughter Janie Duke and her children, all of Burnet; grandchildren Chris Kitchens and wife Amy, Daniel Bishop, Amy Maynard, Michael McGivray and wife Jessie and Amber Wheatley; great-grandchildren Gracie, Conner, Jayden, Jacob, Riley and Aubrie; brothers Sherman Fickle and wife Delores and Jack Morgan and wife Suzanne, all of Kingsland; sisters Elaine Lykberg of Kingsland and Joann Ploman of Marble Falls; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Tom Fickle; infant brother Carl Fickle; and sister Arlie Ladd.

A service is 2 p.m. May 4 at Edgar Funeral Home, 109 N. Main St. in Burnet, (512) 756-4444, with Pastor Greg Lewis officiating. Interment will follow in Tow Cemetery.
