Marble Falls High School rocketeers getting ready for mile-high launch

MARBLE FALLS — With a deadline of 5 p.m. May 2 looming, students in Randy Guffey’s Aeroscience I class worked to complete two 8-foot rockets.
“We’ve been working on the rocket itself for about two weeks,” senior Chad Chesnutt said May 1. “Before that, we did a lot simulations on the computer to see what would work and how to design the rocket. The deadline is close, but we’ll make it.”
Guffey has given his Aeroscience I students the deadline so the rockets will be ready for a May 4 launch at a ranch in Willow City. The goal is for each rocket to carry a 1-pound payload a mile into the sky.
