Lester L. Harris, 76, of Llano and formerly of Mesa, Ariz., died April 3, 2012. He was born June 26, 1935, to Daniel Elisha Harris and Annie (Edwards) Harris in Flint, Mich.

On Dec. 8, 1953, he married Katherine (Yount) Harris in Flint. He served in the Navy in Korea, was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and was a past member of the American Legion, Moose Lodge and the Eagles.

He also served on the board of directors of the Llano Housing Authority.

He loved hunting, fishing, camping and being outdoors.

Survivors include his wife Katherine Harris of Llano; daughters Vanessa Simpson and husband Devin of Llano, and Valerie Waldon and David Mills and Vivian Votava and husband Dan, all of Mabank; sons Victor Harris and wife Vanessa of Odessa and Vernon Harris and wife Joy of Dublin, Ga.; brother Harry Harris and wife Dorothy of Florida; brother-in-law Bob Niblack of Gains, Mich.; sister-in-law Sue Harris of Florida; 14 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother; four sisters; baby boy Harris; one granddaughter; and two great-grandsons.

A visitation is 6-8 p.m. April 6 at Waldrope-Hatfield-Hawthorne Funeral Home,307 E. Sandstone in Llano, (325) 247-4300.

A funeral service is 2 p.m. April 7 at the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Richard Elwood officiating.

Burial will follow at the Llano City Cemetery.

Pallbearers include Damaron Simpson, Lawton Simpson, Richard Bellars, Gorden Holcomb, Robbie Puryear and Bruce Anderson.
