BURNET — After its Spring Break performances, the Burnet High School softball team is ready for District 25-3A play, head coach Amanda Carpenter said.

The Lady Dawgs (12-5) defeated Del Valle 10-6 in six innings after losing to Segin 4-2 during Spring Break.

Against Del Valle, Shelby Wilson hit three RBI singles and scored two runs. Hillary Foster recorded two RBIs, while Allison Eaton, Samantha Lawrence, Kati Maldonado and Kristen Spinn each added one.

Senior pitcher Spinn allowed one hit, gave up a walk and struck out nine.

It took Seguin three extra innings to score two runs for the victory, though Burnet had runners in scoring position throughout the contest, Carpenter said.

“However, we never could come up with the big hit,” she said.

Foster hit a two-run homer in the fifth inning to tie the game.

Spinn gave up two earned runs off five hits and struck out six.

Burnet plays at Lampasas, 2716 U.S. 281 South, 7 p.m. March 20 for the start of the district race.
