Naoma Lucille Welch, 88, of Kingsland died Jan. 16, 2012. She was born in Bowling Green, Ky., on April 1, 1923, to James Richard and Cloa (Davis) Branscum.

She married John Bailey Welch Jr. on Nov. 23, 1939, in Lovington, N.M.

She was an Air Force wife who loved to entertain and socialize. She was a Colorado history buff and enjoyed telling stories, adding a hint of embellishment to make them better. She was an avid golfer and once made a hole-in-one. She enjoyed cooking and writing poetry and was an accomplished artist.

Survivors include her children Brenda and husband Dr. Richard Glissmeyer of Salt Lake City, Tona Simnacher and Brent Welch, both of Kingsland, and John B. Welch and wife Cindy of Austin; grandchildren Casey Dinsmore of Chino, Calif., Sean Dinsmore of Portland, Ore., Shirley Robinson and husband Wayne of Lubbock and Elizabeth Welch of Detroit; great-grandchildren Vinnie Simnacher and Annie Simnacher, both of Ganada, John Thomas McGee of Lubbock and Brandon Simnacher of Oregon; and sister Shirley Johnson of Kingsland.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brothers Howard J. Branscum, Jack D. Branscum, Douglas G. Branscum and Vernon R. Branscum; and sisters Opal L. Dell and Catherine Stella Branscum.

Visitation was Jan. 17 at Putnam Funeral Home in Kingsland. A service is 2 p.m. Jan. 18 at the funeral home, 145 Texas Ave. in Kingsland, (325) 388-0008, with the Rev. Jeff Davis officiating.

Interment will follow at Lakeland Hills Memorial Park in Burnet County.
