Bulldogs defensive coordinator takes on AD, head coach job

BURNET — By unanimous decision, the Burnet Consolidated Independent School District board named defensive coordinator Kurt Jones as the athletic director and head football coach Jan. 6.

“It feels great,” he said. “It’s something I’ve dreamed about for a long time. The excitement comes from the opportunity to come to work in a great place.”

Jones is the 29th football coach at Burnet.

In his 11th year at BCISD, Jones is the longest tenured coach in the district, board President Andy Feild said.

“There’s more to sports than just the athletics,” Feild said. “It’s the lessons they learn through the hard work. I can see coach Jones being a part of that.”
