BURNET — The Bulldogs suffered another bad turn during their second district game of the season.

Burnet High School lost their second-straight contest 20-10 during a bruising battle against Salado Friday at Bulldog Stadium.

The first quarter ended scoreless.

With 6:18 left in the second quarter, Salado scored first.

After putting together three first downs from midfield, Eagles halfback Reece Nicholson carried the ball from the Burnet 1-yard line into the end zone. Kicker Ryan Simmons booted the point-after touchdown to give Salado a 7-0 lead.

Burnet halfback Demone Balmarez carried to the Salado 10 with 3:45 left in the second half. Bulldogs offensive lineman Morgan McHazlett sustained an injury during the play, and a stretcher crew removed him from the field.

When play resumed, Burnet got on the scoreboard, thanks a 24-yard field goal by kicker Austin Huff.

The Bulldogs surged ahead just before the first half ended.
