BURNET — So far this season, Burnet High School football fans have yet to celebrate a win at home.

So if there was ever a time the Bulldogs (3-3, 0-1) needed to earn one, it’s Oct. 14 when they host Salado, head coach Doyle Walker said.

“You always want to win that first district game and when you get beat, it kind of puts you in a corner, and hopefully, you’ll come out fighting. … I don’t expect anything less,” he said. “You don’t want to have two losses to start district off with because then it puts you in a bind. Then you got to count on somebody else to help you get in the playoffs. We control our destiny.”

The Bulldogs lost to Lampasas 37-29 on Oct. 7. The Eagles enter the contest after a 20-14 overtime loss to Liberty Hill.
