Emmie Ella (Itz) Rusche
Emmie Ella (Itz) Rusche, 89 of Llano and formerly of Fredericksburg, died Oct. 5, 2011. She was born April 29, 1922, to Rudolph Itz and Emma Sophie (Lehne) Itz in Gillespie County.
She served during World War II in the Navy as a nurse. Afterwards she married James (Jim) Clifton Rusche May 18, 1948 at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Fredericksburg.
She had been a resident of Llano since 1948 and was an active member in the Christ Lutheran Church, Christ Lutheran Church women, Prairie Mountain Community Club, Prairie Mountain EE club, a rain-gauge observer for the Lower Colorado River Authority and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association, Llano County 4-H leader and American Legion Post-Llano.
Survivors include daughters Ella Jean Holland and husband Manzy “Pete” of San Antonio, and Miranda Sue Reeves and husband James of Llano; grandchildren Dustin Holland and wife Karley, Joy Holland and Jennifer Reeves.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; sisters Lillie Baethge, Alma Sherrer, Margaret Harris, Esther Hansen, Ursula Weidner and Louise Crenwelge; brother-in-laws Felix Baethge, Emil Sherrer, Lester Harris, Ewald Hansen, Roland Weidner and Clarence Crenwelge.
Visitation is 5-7 p.m. Oct. 7 at the Waldrope-Hatfield-Hawthorne Funeral Home chapel, 307 E. Sandstone in Llano, (325) 247-4300.
A funeral service is 3 p.m. Oct. 8 at the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Mark Ward officiating.
Burial is in Llano City Cemetery.
Pallbearers include, Daryl Friedrich, Rudy Hansen, Marvin Rusche, Greg Schmidt, James Heimann and Spencer Weidner.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Christ Lutheran Building Fund, Christ Lutheran WELCA Quilting Fund, Prairie Mountain Community Club or Charity of Choice.
