MARBLE FALLS — To this day, 20 years later, former Marble Falls High School head football coach David Denney has never watched the film of the regional quarterfinal loss to Burnet in 1991, nicknamed the game of the century.

“You can point out a zillion things to turn it around,” he said. “Sometimes I’d rather get beat by 20 or 30 or 50 points than lose a close game. There’s one little thing that could turn the whole thing around.”

Former Mustang cornerback Leno Garza has only watched the film one time of the pivotal game against traditional rival Burnet.

“I watched it probably my senior year (in 1992) again,” he said. “Since then, I have not. The only reason I watched it was to learn from it. I knew we were playing Burnet again. After that, it had no value.”

Former teammate Jamie Graham has watched it no more than 10 times.

“I watched it the week after,” he said. “More right after. I watched it with friends.”

At the time, it appeared on tape delay the Monday and Tuesday after the Friday night game.

Even former Burnet High School defensive end Chris Scott has watched the game film once, though he adds he has watched multiple times a Bulldog highlight film devoted to that season with scenes from that game.
