CASTROVILLE — Twenty seconds can be an eternity in Texas high school football.

Just ask the Medina Valley High School Panthers, who lost Friday night to the Marble Falls Mustangs, 42-38, during a nail-biter finish.

When junior running back Taylor Jungmann scored from the three-yard line to give Medina Valley a 38-35 lead with 20 seconds left in the game, the Panther faithful celebrated the home team erasing a 17-point deficit Friday.

It happened after the Panthers ran a punt 40 yards to the Mustangs’ 9 with Jungmann scoring on third down.

But they gave Marble Falls senior quarterback Zed Woerner and company 13 seconds for the comeback.

That was too much time.
