Ella Diane Dean Craig
Ella Diane Dean Craig, 68, of Burnet died June 8, 2011, surrounded by her husband and daughters after a hard-fought battle with leukemia. She was born in Center on Oct. 27, 1942.
She loved wildflowers, travel and above all, her family. She had a thirst for knowledge, but she never learned the word “acquaintance” — if you met her, you were a friend. Her love was boundless; her zest for life, infectious. She did not harbor many delusions, but all her life this 5-foot-4-inch spitfire truly believed she was 5’5. In this and other ways, she really was larger than life.
Survivors include her husband James W. Craig Jr. of Burnet; daughters Stephanie and husband David Clemmons of Richardson, Meredith Mills and husband Justin Strother of Houston, Jessica and husband Andy Miles of Grapevine and Jennie and husband Scott Seidel of Austin; grandchildren Mallory, Parker, Grayson, Caroline, Avery, Chloe, Ethan and Audrey; brother James Dean and wife Naomi of Denver; and many other close friends and relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents Chester and Etta Dean.
For more than 20 years, she worked tirelessly to beautify Texas and cover it with native flowers. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center at www.wildflower.org.
Visitation is 6-8 p.m. June 10 at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home, 306 Texas 29 East in Burnet, (512) 756-2222.
A service is 10:30 a.m. June 11 at First United Methodist Church, 909 N. Vanderveer St. in Burnet. Interment will follow at Lakeland Hills Memorial Park, 4219 Park Road 4 South in Burnet.
