Ruby Mary (Levingston) Barton
Ruby Mary (Levingston) Barton, 94, died May 22, 2011. She was born in Burnet County on March 19, 1917, to Reuben and Sarah “Sallie” (Avery) Levingston.
On Dec. 31, 1935, she married Herman Barton, and they later had two sons.
She had been a member of Bertram Cumberland Presbyterian Church since 1939. During this time, she served as a deacon and elder, a treasurer for 15 years, and was active in the women’s groups of her church.
She proudly served as a Presbyterial officer and with Synod ladies groups as well.
For the past few years since her husband’s death, she resided at Country Oaks at Hamilton Creek in Burnet. She was quite active, both mentally and physically. She loved playing games and enjoyed being in touch with friends and family.
Survivors include her son Larry Barton and wife Kay of Burnet; daughter-in-law Karen Barton of Seadrift; grandchildren Donna Pahmeyer, Michele Matthews, Wade Barton, Luke Barton, Clay Barton, Mary Barton and Anna Barton; step-grandchildren Kelly Aldis, Lauren Belk, Leslie Soucek and Colin Keag; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years; son Alfred H. “Sonny” Barton Jr.; and granddaughter Kimille Kay Barton.
Visitation is 6-8 p.m. May 24 at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home, 306 Texas 29 East in Burnet, (512) 756-2222.
A service is 10 a.m. May 25 at Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 430 Texas 29 West in Bertram with the Rev. Daryl Johnson officiating. Pallbearers are Luke Barton, Clay Barton, Wade Barton, Robert Pahmeyer, Dayton Warden Jr. and Jamie Brizendine.
