Ivan Wayne White, 67, of Burnet died April 3, 2011. He was born in Rising Star on April 28, 1943, to Elmer and Florene (Willett) White. 
He married Elizabeth (Liz) Bentley on Jan. 26, 1962, in Kermit.

He was a 47-year supporter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha International and also a member. He worked in the oil-and-gas industry as well as the power-generation field, which provided energy for underdeveloped countries, societies and communities. Through the years, he worked in more than 130 countries on seven continents and had many friends all over the world.

He was a longtime supporter of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and helped with many fundraisers. While living in Fort Stockton, he was a 15-year member of the Fort Stockton Volunteer Fire Department and belonged to the Jaycees.

He was a John Wayne fan and amassed the actor’s movies and memorabilia. He also collected guns and knives and loved to hunt and fish. Most important, he was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a loyal supporter of all his grandchildren’s activities and was lovingly known as "Papa" to many. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years Elizabeth "Liz" White of Burnet; daughter Kaci Foster and husband Earl of Burnet; grandchildren Whitnee Heiligmann of Austin, Chadd Heiligmann and fiancee Bailey Rogers of Camp Lejeune, N.C., Cody Foster and fiancee Bethany Frisch of Buchanan Dam and Brock Foster of Burnet; great-grandson Jayden Foster of Buchanan Dam; brothers Lonnie White and wife Barbara of Wink, Elmer Dean White and wife Diane of Kermit and Mike White of Kermit; and sister Frances Ashley of Irving.

A visitation is 6-8 p.m. April 5 at Putnam Funeral Home, 145 Texas Ave. in Kingsland, (325) 388-0008.

A service is 10 a.m. April 6 at Hill Country Fellowship, 200 Houston Clinton Drive in Burnet, with the Rev. Doug Lindley officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeland Hills Memorial Park in Burnet.
