Ellen Lois Maxwell Kassell

Ellen Lois Maxwell Kassell, 90, of Austin died March 25, 2011. She was born in Goldthwaite on Oct. 1, 1920, to Robert and Bettie Lunsford Hammond.

She was a member of the Methodist church and the Order of the Eastern Star, and was a past member of the Llano Art Guild. She owned and operated a number of dress shops and worked for many years for the Retail Merchant Association and Credit Bureau.

Survivors include her daughter Sue Hill and granddaughter Paige Hill, both of Austin.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son Eddie Maxwell; and husbands James Miles Maxwell and Robert Kassell.

A graveside service was March 27 at Bluffton Cemetery with the Rev. Billy J. Hammond officiating.
