Janice Sherritt Kirkman
Janice Sherritt Kirkman, 74, of Kingsland, died Jan. 4, 2011, at Scott & White Hospital in Temple. She was born July 1, 1936, in Shelbyville, Ind., to Harry and Beulah Sherritt.
She graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1954 and later attended Butler University in Indianapolis, where she met Bill, her husband of 52 years. She graduated from Butler in 1958 with a bachelor of arts degree in English.
The couple lived in Florida, Georgia, Indiana and Texas.
They owned KHLB AM/FM in the Texas Hill Country, Pearle Vision Centers of San Antonio and Travel Ezee of Marble Falls.
She was an avid reader who visited more than 40 countries. Also, she was a professional motivational speaker who appeared before civic and service organizations.
She was a member of The Church at Horseshoe Bay, Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority, Highland Lakes Social Club, Kingsland Chamber of Commerce and Lambda Nu.
In addition to her husband, survivors include children Kevin Kirkman and wife Carolyn of Allen, Kelly Klein and husband Joe of Austin, Kent Kirkman and wife Leni of San Antonio, and Keith Kirkman and wife Tracey of Chandler, Ariz.; and 11 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Betty Carmel.
A service is 2 p.m. Jan. 29 at The Church at Horseshoe Bay, 600 Hi Ridge in Horseshoe Bay.
