Thomas Hampton Evans, 81, of Burnet died Dec. 11, 2010, in Kingsland. He was born June 5, 1929, in Houston to Horace W. Evans and Ethel (Weaver) Evans. He graduated from the University of Corpus Christi with a bachelor of arts degree in education. He also was the author and composer of their school fight song.

He was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Burnet, a member the Rotary Club of Burnet and a past Rotary district governor in Colorado. He enjoyed photography and once owned a photography business in Colorado.

For a number of years he wrote hunting and fishing news for area newspapers.  He wrote and sang ragtime and gospel music, composed a Christmas cantata and was a former Victoria councilman.

He was employed in human resources for the Dupont Chemical Co. before moving to Burnet in 1999.

Survivors include wife Judith Evans of Burnet; daughters Nancy Kellner of New Braunfels and Judith Green of Waco; stepdaughters Linda Speer, Kathy Smith and Carol Nemir, all of Austin; three grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a nephew; and a great-niece.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Billy Evans; and grandson Jason Kellner.

A memorial service is 11 a.m. Dec. 15 at the First Christian Church in Burnet with the Rev. Dawn Rosignol officiating.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Rotary Club of Burnet for the benefit of Paul Harris Fellows or to the Court Appointed Special Advocates for the Highland Lakes Area.
