Theresa Ann (Mohan) Ham, 56, died Nov. 7 at her home in Burnet after a year-long battle with cancer. She was born to Bernard and Ruby Mohan Jan. 27, 1954, in Germany.

The daughter of an Air Force pilot, she lived in Germany until the Mohan family returned to the United States and eventually settled in Burnet in 1969, when she was in ninth grade.

She met Steve Ham at Burnet High School, where they graduated in 1972 and then were married Dec. 29, 1973, at Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church.

After they graduated from Southwest Texas State University in 1976, they lived in Midland briefly where they started their family — four sons — and she began a 29-year teaching career.

They returned to Burnet where she taught at Burnet High School for 24 years.  She was working in West Columbia when she retired from teaching. When she fell ill, she was working as a 33rd Judicial District Court probation officer at the Intermediate Sanction Facility in Burnet.

She was a loving daughter, wife, mother and grandmother; a dedicated teacher; an avid supporter of the Burnet swim team; and a faithful member of Our Mother of Sorrows.

She enjoyed reading, music, camping, traveling with her family and friends, crocheting and Christmas.

In addition to her husband, survivors include sons Joshua and wife Renee and their son John Robert Ham of Killeen, Andrew Ham of Katy, Benjamin and his wife Kasey Ham of Smithwick, and Thomas and wife Chelsi Ham of Katy; mother of Burnet; brothers John and wife Donna Mohan of Florida and Tim and wife Karen Mohan and their three children of Burnet; and sister Kathleen and husband Stephen Palmour and their four daughters of Burnet.

She was preceded in death by her father.

Visitation is 6 p.m. and a rosary will be recited 7 p.m. Nov. 12 at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home, 306 Texas 29 in Burnet, (512) 756-2222.

A funeral Mass is 10 a.m. Nov. 13 at Our Mother of Sorrows, 507 Buchanan Drive in Burnet, followed by a  private graveside service at Lakeland Hills Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to assist her son Benjamin Ham, who is battling cancer.
