Lester Benjamin Thompson, 86, of Marble Falls died Sept. 12, 2010. Born Feb. 10, 1924, in Bedrock, Colo., he was the son of Cullen and Grace (Simmons) Thompson.

He joined the Navy when he was 17 and served during World War II. He was awarded a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star.

He attended Arizona State University and Logan College of Chiropractic in St. Louis.

He practiced chiropractory in Flagstaff, Ariz., Oznard, Calif., and Applegate, Calif.  He was a past member of the Lions Club in Flagstaff and was a life member of the Kingsland chapter of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Survivors include wife Alice Thompson of Marble Falls; son Leonard Thompson of Show Low, Ariz.; stepsons Lawrence Merry of Fillmore Falls, Ore., and Allan Merry of Kingsland; sisters Roberta Hall of Boise, Idaho, Glena Slover of Phoenix, Nancy DeWitt of Snowflake, Ariz., and Janet Langston of Snowflake, Ariz.; and grandsons Joseph Thompson, David Thompson and Daniel Thompson.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial service will be held later.
