Mae Lewis

Mae Lewis, 94, of San Antonio and formerly of Sunrise Beach, died May 29, 2010. She was born in Hayti, Mo., Jan. 26, 1916.
During her childhood, she lived in Missouri, Arkansas and Louisiana before moving to McCamey while in high school. She met and married Ted M. Lewis in 1935, and the couple moved to Ozona in 1952.
She operated a ladies’ clothing store for several years until the couple retired and moved to Sunrise Beach in 1978. She resided at an assisted-living facility in San Antonio at the time of her death.
She was a member of the Baptist church and a proud parent and grandparent, family members said.
Survivors include sons Larry Lewis and wife Shirley of San Antonio and David Lewis of Dallas; grandchildren Tracy Connell of Maple Valley, Wash., Terri Kaess of Snoqualmie, Wash., Air Force Lt. Col. Ted Lewis of Montgomery, Ala., and Madison Lewis of Dallas; and great-grandchildren Stone and Piper Connell, Graysen, Addison and Tyron Kaess and Brock and Ranger Lewis.
She was preceded in death by her husband; brother Tye Tolle; sister Virginia Poynor; mother Martha Ellen (Pemberton) Tolle; father Buford Tolle; and daughter-in-law Mary Lewis.
Visitation is 8-11:30 a.m. June 3 at Waldrope-Hatfield-Hawthorne Funeral Home, 900 Industrial Drive in Kingsland, (325) 388-6767. Graveside services will follow at 2 p.m. at the Sandy Mountain Cemetery in Sunrise Beach with the Rev. Bill McCormick officiating.
