Edna Mae White Boone
Edna Mae White Boone, 87, died May 2, 2010. She was born Aug. 26, 1922, in Coleman to George M. and Annie Stuckey White.
She became a member of North Coleman Baptist Church at age 12, and graduated Santa Anna High School in Santa Anna in 1941.
She married H.M. Boyd May 31, 1942. The couple had five children.
He was remarried in 1980 to E.B. Boone.
She was a nurse at Shepperd Memorial Hospital in Burnet for 17 years. Following her retirement, she worked for Home Health Hospice. She also joined the Volunteer Mission Service Corps, working as a nurse at summer camps for 10 years.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Burnet for 30 years until moving to Bulverde in 1992. She later joined Spring Branch Baptist Church, where she remained a member for the rest of her life.
Survivors include her sons Walter E. Boyd of Austin and Larry B. Boyd of Nashoba, Okla.; stepsons Don Boone of Bonham and Douglas Boone of Midland; daughters Carol Johnson and Judy McCarty of Bulverde; stepdaughter Cherrie Hotzclaw of Midland; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two husbands.
Funeral services are 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Edgar Funeral Home of Burnet, 109 N. Main St. with the Rev. Rick Martindale officiating. Burial will follow at the Oatmeal Community Cemetery.
