Bentley Emmett DeMars
Bentley Emmett DeMars, 80, of Meadowlakes and fomerly of Winterset, Iowa, died May 26, 2010, surrounded by his family.
He was born in Royal, Iowa, on Sept. 19, 1929, to Bentley Albert DeMars and Margaret Mary Jones.
Educated first in Royal schools, his family moved to Charles City, Iowa, where he graduated from high school. He joined the Air Force in 1949 and completed navigation school.
When he was a second lieutenant, he married Marilyn Mayfield May 6, 1951.
During the Korean War he was awarded the Air Medal and the Distinguished Flying Cross. He continued to serve in flying reserve units until 1967. Later schooling included a bachelor of science degree in accounting from Minnesota State University, Mankato, Minn., and a master of business administration degree from Drake University.
He retired as the chief financial officer of Triple “F” Inc. of Des Moines, Iowa. He continued his love of golf and woodworking, selling and refinishing antiques during his retirement.
In addition to his wife, survivors include children Jannine Cody of San Antonio, Christine and Jon Victorsen of Edina, Minn., Paul and Lari DeMars of Allen, and Lisa DeMars of Marble Falls; grandchildren Catherine and Elizabeth Cody; Alec, Evan and Katelyn Victorsen, and Bentley and Morgan DeMars; and sister Phyllis McCall of Spirit Lake, Iowa.

A memorial service follows at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
