Othey (Junior) McNew, Jr.

Othey (Junior) McNew Jr.,  61, of Llano, formerly of Smithville and Houston, died April 19, 2010. He was born July 30, 1948, to Betty (French) and Othey McNew Sr. in Houston. He married Donna Marshall July 30, 1971, in Anderson.

He was a Mason and past master of Aldine Lodge #1412; past patron of the Order of Eastern Star #1088; endowed member of Billy Wayne Tinsley Lodge #1458; chapter dad of the order “Demola” in Houston; was member and a past master of the Llano Masonic Lodge #242.  He was a member and former pastor of Baptist Country Chapel in Tow for nine years and former member and interim pastor to Pittsburg Avenue Baptist Church of Llano, where he was was ordained in 1998.

Survivors include his wife, Donna McNew of Llano; mother Betty B. McNew of Houston; daughter Jennifer Nicole McNew and fiancé James of Kingsland; son John Walter McNew and fiancé Shefflyn of Freeport, Fla.; brother Clifford McNew of Llano; aunt and uncle Joyce and Glenn Lowry of Spring; grandchildren James Edward McNew, Summer Rain Bourland, Brock O’Neal Phillips Jr. and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father and sister Betty Joyce Kelley.

Visitation is Friday at Waldrope-Hatfield-Hawthorne Funeral Home 307 Sandstone St. in Llano from 9-11:30 a.m. with graveside services following at 1 p.m. at the Llano City Cemetery with the Rev. Jay Robertson officiating.
