JOHNSON CITY – Five nonprofits including Spicewood's volunteer fire agency — which is still recovering from a Labor Day wildfire — have received $90,000 in grant funding from the Pedernales Electric Cooperative.
The announcement came Dec. 19 during a board meeting at the utility's headquarters.

JOHNSON CITY — Pedernales Electric Cooperative distributed more than $333,000 to 373 civic and charitable organizations in its service area as part of its employee-driven United Charities program.
“United Charities is a great program because it allows PEC employees to give back to their neighbors, communities and favorite charitable organizations,” said Bobby Bryant, chairman for United Charities and PEC training instructor.
Money from the program comes from volunteer employee payroll deductions and a corporate match.
JOHNSON CITY — Early voting in the Pedernales Electric Cooperative elections ends June 10.
After the early voting deadline, members will have a final chance to vote at PEC's annual meeting June 18 at the PEC Training Center, 1506 U.S. 281 North.
