According to Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Rick Mintz, a male driver in a west-bound pickup truck appeared to have crossed the center line and struck an eastbound sport-utility vehicle.

The female driver of the SUV was airlifted by Air Evac Lifeteam to Seton University Medical Center Brackenridge in Austin, Mintz said.

He said the female was moving her arms as first responders worked to free her from the overturned SUV but could have suffered head trauma. The male pickup driver appeared to suffer minor injuries but was transported by ambulance to Seton Medical Center Williamson in Round Rock.

Traffic was stopped for about an hour after the crash. The Air Evac helicopter landed on the roadway near the site, about three miles west of U.S. 281, at 10:51 a.m. and left with the female passenger at 11:03 a.m.
