FROM STAFF REPORTS

MARBLE FALLS — People looking to combine their appetite with a good cause can stop by the Marble Falls Pizza Hut, 1000 U.S. 281, on Aug. 8.

The local restaurant is donating 20 percent of sales from that day to the Marble Falls Area Volunteer Fire Department.

“We really appreciate what they’re doing for us,” said MFAVD Capt. George Tennison. “It means a lot to us.”

There is a catch, though. In order for 20 percent of a sale to go to the volunteer department, the patron must present a fundraiser flyer at the time of purchase.

Tennison said people can pick up a flyer from any of the MFAVFD members or at Foxworth-Galbraith, 510 Industrial Blvd. in Marble Falls.

People can also e-mail editor@thepicayune.com and one will be forwarded to them.

There is a minimum of a $10 purchase.

While the benefit is earmarked for the MFAVFD, Tennison said the money will likely go to a firefighter from a nearby department who was injured in a recent fire. The Marble Falls crew hasn’t informed the other department or the intended recipient and is hoping to surprise the unit and individual.
