Floyd Clinton Nobles Jr.

Floyd Clinton Nobles Jr., 62, of Pecan Creek in Horseshoe Bay, died after a battle with pancreatic cancer Oct. 26, 2011, at Hospice of the Valley in Phoenix, Ariz.
He was born in San Antonio on Dec. 19, 1948, to Floyd Clinton Nobles Sr. and Kathryn Wright Nobles.
His passion for the Hill Country developed as he grew up hunting and fishing with his father, grandfathers and uncles. He was a Boy Scout and enjoyed camping during his boyhood. These experiences led to a lifelong passion for bird hunting, gun collecting, fishing, boating and hiking, especially in Big Bend.
He graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1967. He worked many jobs while achieving his degree from the University of Texas in 1972. After graduation he worked in sales and marketing positions as well as owning several small businesses in the Round Rock area while raising his young family.
He became a licensed Realtor at age 21 so that he could buy, sell, manage and trade real estate properties. He especially enjoyed buying and selling small ranch properties in his later years in Uvalde County.
He became associated with Lake LBJ Improvement Corp. in the late 1970s when Wayne and Norman Hurd began their development of Horseshoe Bay. He spent the next 30 years working with Wayne Hurd as a financial manager and retired as executive vice president in 2008.
Upon retirement from LBJ, he assumed the presidency of the Pecan Creek Property Owners Association, where he made his home. He delighted in personally landscaping and grooming Pecan Creek and creating a place of great beauty for his friends and neighbors. He continued his real estate interests as an associate of Macon Realty, owned by longtime friends Macon and Pat Dunham.
In 2003, he married Phyllis Kathleen Kincaid in an outdoor ceremony at Quail Point Lodge in Horseshoe Bay. They loved each other and enjoyed entertaining friends and family. They enjoyed traveling the United States, Mexico and Canada, as well as attending St Peter’s Lutheran Church in Marble Falls.
He loved his family and was devoted to them. He displayed a love for his neighbors and his passion for hard work was shown by his honesty and integrity. His family and friends could look to him for love, guidance and generous support.
He left us too soon, but he will be with us forever in memories as a hard-working, loving and generous father, grandfather, brother, son-in-law and loyal friend to all those he loved.
He served on the church council of St. Peter’s, as well as the building and facilities committee and endowment committee. He was a faithful greeter and usher for Sunday services.
He supported Special Olympics and assisted with several events. He and his wife were also supporters of the Hill Country Children’s Advocacy Center.
In addition to his wife, survivors include daughters Cari Lynn O’Connor of Lewisville, and Jenifer Kay Lemionet and husband Gerard of Phoenix; brother Terry Wright Nobles of Round Rock; uncle B. Melton Wright and wife Thelma of Houston; grandsons Ryan Duffey O’Connor, Matthew Timothy O’Connor, Jeffrey Joseph O’Connor and Trey Nobles Lemionet; and numerous cousins and many relatives of his wife’s family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and many aunts and uncles.
A memorial service is 2 p.m. Nov. 5 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 1803 RR 1431 West.
A celebration of life will follow at Quail Point Lodge in Horseshoe Bay.
The family wishes to thank the doctors and staff at Scott & White Hospital in Temple as well as the Cancer Treatment Center of America in Phoenix for their care and support.
