MARBLE FALLS — The Lady Mustangs ended their season with a loss to Vandegrift on Oct. 19. Still, head coach Julie Downs said the Lady Mustangs “showed their true character and their ability to fight.”

Llano def. Lampasas 25-6, 25-20, 25-7
LAMPASAS — The Lady Jackets took a step toward the playoffs thanks to a road win against Lampasas on Oct. 19.
“Matches where one team has nothing to gain and the other has everything to lose scare me more than any other kind of match,” Llano head coach Shawn Sweeten-Meredith said. “The kids were fired up and ready to play.”
During the opening set, the Lady Jackets hurried the pace but couldn’t sustain the effort in the second game, Sweeten-Meredith said. The final set was much like the first one, she added.
If Llano can beat Burnet on Oct. 23, the Lady Jackets will finish in third place in District 8-3A and qualify for the playoffs.

SUBVARSITY RESULTS: Llano junior varsity (8-16, 1-7) lost 23-25, 10-25. Llano freshmen (9-18, 1-7) lost in three sets.

BURNET — The Lady Dawgs caught Liberty Hill off guard during the first game and took control by having great serves and hustle, coaches said. Liberty Hill woke up, and for the rest of the match Burnet never had control again. Shiloh Roberts was the top server with 8 points.

BURNET — The Lady Dawgs played well but could not finish with a win, coaches said. In the third game, Burnet let Liberty Hill slip away at the end. The top servers were Julia Taylor with 6 points and Shay Henry with 5.
