Llano loses to Gatesville, Liberty Hill in volleyball
Gatesville def. Llano 25-19, 21-25, 25-19, 25-13
LLANO — The Lady Hornets’ experience led to a victory Sept. 28 that allows Gatesville to stay in second place in District 8-3A.
Still, head coach Shawn Sweeten-Meredith credited seniors Jessica Wunderlich and Cierra Jordan for their leadership, junior libero Cierra Caffey for her passing, junior setter Cheyenne Swenson for running the offense and freshman middle blocker Melissa Reynolds for handling the pressure.
ON OFFENSE: Kills – Alyssa Morgan 10, Cierra Jordan 9; assists – Cheyenne Swenson 13, Morgan 7; aces – Morgan and Jordan 1 each
ON DEFENSE: Digs – Jordan 18, Cierra Caffey 12, Christy Vassar 8
QUOTABLE: “We had our moments where we looked very experienced and polished. However, we also had our moments where we looked like a bunch of individuals,” head coach Shawn Sweeten-Meredith said.
RECORDS: Llano is 14-19 overall and 2-2 in District 8-3A play.

Liberty Hill sweeps Llano 25-20, 25-15, 25-19
LIBERTY HILL — The Lady Panthers wasted little time in remaining perfect in District 8-3A play with a straight sets victory against the Lady Jackets on Sept. 25.
“Liberty Hill is very good and a strong team with well-rounded players from all positions,” head coach Shawn Sweeten-Meredith said.
ON OFFENSE: Kills – Jessica Wunderlich 8, Lacey Redden 7; assists – Alyssa Morgan 10, Cheyenne Swenson 5; aces – Morgan 1.
ON DEFENSE: Blocks – Cierra Jordan, Wunderlich and Redden 2 each; digs – Jordan 11, Morgan and Caffey 6 each, Christy Vassar 5.
QUOTABLE: “We tried to remain high on ourselves by focusing on the good points we earned, all though in the end the Panthers had an answer to each of our points. And in the end, it was down to a matter of errors, and we had more,” head coach Shawn Sweeten-Meredith said.
