BUCHANAN DAM — Anglers still can participate in the Central Texas Water Coalition Highland Lakes Fishing Tournament April 21-22.

That’s the word from coalition President Jo Karr Tedder.

The event is for two-person teams at a $150 entry fee with the first round on lakes Travis, Austin, Buchanan and LBJ. The second round will be on Lake LBJ.

The grand prize is $10,000.

Teri Freitag, Burnet County tourism and public information officer, said the reason the county helped sponsor the event is because it’s geared toward families.

“Ultimately, the goal is to get people to fish in our lakes,” she said. “It’s going to be very family-oriented.”

A kickoff event is 7 p.m. April 20 at River City Grille, 700 First St. in Marble Falls.

The coalition exists “to educate people about the resevoir of the Highland Lakes,” Tedder said.
