MARBLE FALLS — A chance to help the Chess Club might have been just a cover for the opportunity to prove which class is best at dodgeball at Marble Falls High School on Oct. 7.

In the end, the sophomores defeated the juniors in the tournament final and were crowned champions.

Sophomore class president Sarah Stripling, who served as team captain, drafted each member of the sophomore team, mostly boys.

“A lot of them I picked because they played football or baseball,” she said. “Guys are physically dominant over girls.”

Stripling, who is a triplet, drafted her brother Ben, which didn’t bother other brother Mike.

Instead, the trio celebrated with their classmates after tournament director Chuck Woods handed a trophy to the sophomores.

“Originally, there were 10 (players),” Stripling said. “Then I moved it to 15.”
